Antique Wooden Writing Slope Box - project piece

This writing box is an inherited family piece. Measures when closed 45cm long, 17.5cm high, 24.5cm wide. I am not sure what the wood is or the box's age but I believe at least 100 years old. Sadly the box has not been well cared for and is in need of some TLC. The lock has been damaged, looks like it has been forced open at some point and there isn't a key. The hinges appear sprained/broken and the writing board itself is in two pieces although it does have the original cover. There are some missing divider bits from the inside too, and I think the base once had a felt bottom. The outside has scratches and damage on corners. I have hung on to the box for sentimental reasons, the last owner was my dad although he had it from his auntie. I intended to try and restore it myself but I think it is beyond my skill set. I would hate to throw it out but would love for it to restored by someone with the time and inclination to do so
